FAWC SUMMER PROGRAM SERIES: Alan Shapiro and Art Werger, Monday, August 5
All events begin at 6:30pm, are free and open to the public, and are held in the Stanley Kunitz Common Room at the Fine Arts Work Center, 24 Pearl Street in Provincetown.
There is a suggested donation of $5.
Alan Shapiro has published eleven books of poetry, including Night of the Republic, a finalist for the 2012 National Book Award, Old War, winner of the 2009 Ambassador Book Award, and The Dead Alive and Busy, winner of the Kingsley Tufts Award. He has also published one novel, Broadway Baby, two memoirs and a book of criticism. He teaches at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Art Werger is the Printmaking Area Chair and professor of Art at Ohio University. Werger has received over two hundred awards for his work and has pieces in the collection of The Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Boston Public Library, the Brooklyn Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the Trenton Museum in New Jersey. Most recently he has received major awards at the 2012 International Print Triennial in Krakow, Poland and the First International Mezzotint Festival in Ekaterinburg, Russia.
