Great Music Sundays @ 5

The Great Music on Sundays @5 series, now in its sixteenth consecutive concert year, presents “Sail Away: Music by the Sea” with Simon Wall (tenor), Frederick Jodry (piano and organ) and Richard Busch (piano) on Sunday August 10 at 5 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House of Provincetown (236 Commercial Street). The concert features music composed by Richard Busch, Nöel Coward, Nicola deGretry, Ivor Novello, Cole Porter, Roger Quilter, Franz Schubert, Arthur Sullivan (of Gilbert & Sullivan) and Kurt Weill.

 

The concert includes the Overture to The Pirates of Penzance (Sullivan) performed by Messrs. Jodry and Busch; “Das Fischermädchen” and “Des Fischers Liebesglück” (Schubert) performed by Messrs. Wall and Jodry; songs by Roger Quilter performed by Messrs. Wall and Busch; several songs by Kurt Weill with text by Walt Whitman, including “O Captain, My Captain” and “Dirge for Two Veterans”, performed by Messrs. Wall and Busch; Richard Busch’s composition “O, May I Join the Choir Invisible” performed by the composer and Mr. Wall; a four-movement organ composition by Nicola deGretry based on the hymn “Ave Maris Stella” and played by Mr. Jodry; and a medley of songs by Coward, Novello and Porter arranged by Mr. Busch and performed by all three musicians.
