Holocaust Memorial

Please come to an inter-generational community gathering to remember victims of the Holocaust and other genocides on April 29, 2014 at 7 PM at the Nauset Regional Middle School. The featured speaker is Irene Berman, author of “We are Going to Pick Potatoes: Norway and the Holocaust, the Untold Story.” In April 1940, Nazi Germany invaded Norway, and the deportation of two thousand Norwegian Jews began. As a young child in 1942, Irene Levin Berman and her family escaped to Sweden, a neutral country during World War II. Seven members of Irene’s father’s immediate family were among 771 victims unable to escape. They were murdered in Auschwitz. Mrs. Berman will speak about what she remembers and what she learned from surviving members of her family. The service is sponsored by The Interfaith Group on the Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights and by the Nauset Interfaith Association in cooperation with Harwich High School and Nauset Regional Middle and High Schools
