Sam Holmstock hosts “Africa Oye” on the second Sunday of the month from 6-9 PM.

Sam is a percussionist specializing in African and Latin percussion and performs with The Mark Greel Latin Jazz Trio and roots rockers Reckless Roots. He teaches African and Cuban Drumming at Cotuit Center for the Arts. He also facilitates drum circles for special needs groups including Alzheimer’s, brain injury, autistic adults and incarcerated teens. Sam first got into radio in the early eighties as a public affairs producer at WXPN in Philadelphia, home of the syndicated radio show “World Cafe”. He then went on to a very part time thing at WMVY on Martha’s Vineyard in the late 80’s programming Jazz and World music on Sunday mornings. He currently programs folk, jazz, and world music at WKKL 90.7 in West Barnstable making “Africa Oye” at WOMR the icing on the cake.

Africa Oye, the lastest and greatest Pop styles from the length and breadth of the African Continent. With the occasional foray to communities of the African Diaspora Like Haiti, Garifuna Belize, Brazil and Cuba. The second Sunday of the month from 6-9 PM.
