The Orleans Chamber of Commerce has put together a party and it sounds like our kind of good time. On Saturday September 28 at the Oddfellows Hall on Namskaket Road in Orleans the chamber is hosting an authentic Cape Cod clambake and barbeque with live music and a beer and wine garden with emcee Matty Dread. Proceeds benefit the Ed Gill Memorial Scholarship Fund, The Oddfellows and the Orleans Chamber of Commerce. The bands are pretty much all friends of ours already, and we’re excited to make some more new friends along the way.
Clambakes must be purchased before Sept. 25. There will be additional food available for purchase on the day of the event from Dr. FrankNSwine, The Yardarm, Hole In One and The Local Scoop. Admission without clambake will be available at the door.
In addition to the Clam BQ, the Nauset Surf ‘n Music Festival will feature a surf film festival at the Jailhouse Tavern on Thursday and Friday evenings. Friday evening’s film “Endless Summer” will be followed by a performance by Steph Sloan and The Elephant Parade. There’s also artist receptions at the Addison Gallery Thursday through Saturday and a road race on Saturday, so there’s something for everyone.
The program committee is seeking proposals from trained volunteers to fill Thursdays from 9pm to midnight. New volunteers are welcome to begin the training process to get qualified to fill in as substitutes. Contact matty@womr.org with any questions or to set up an orientation interview.
