The 15th Annual Chatham Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, November 28 will begin at 8 a.m. The trot is an untimed walk/run of 3.1 miles over winding and rolling paved roads in Chatham and starts behind the Orpheum Theater, 637 Main Street. All groceries collected and money raised go to the Lower Cape Outreach Council.
Organizers have updated some of the pre-event and actual trot procedures for 2019.
Some of the changes are guaranteed t-shirts are for first 1,000 registrants only; the registration fee goes up on November 27; and no dogs are allowed on the trot. Because the number of participants has increased, the trot can no longer accommodate dogs.
Registration fees are: $5 plus grocery items for participants aged 0-12; $20 plus one bag of non-perishable grocery items until through November 26 for those ages 13 and older. On November 27 and 28, the registration is $25 and one bag of non-perishable grocery items ages 13 and older.
From 3 – 6 p.m., on November 27, participants may drop off their groceries, register, and pick up
t-shirts at Chatham Community Center, 702 Main Street, Chatham. At 7 a.m., on November 28, all operations are in the parking lot behind the Orpheum Theater: registration, check in and grocery drop off.
