DESCRIPTION:Widely regarded as one of America’s leading nature writers\, Robert Finch published eight books of essays and twice received the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for Radio Writing for his weekly radio commentaries on WCAI. Described in the New York Times Book Review as “a keen and passionate observer” and “today’s best\, most perceptive Cape Cod writer in a line extending all the way back to Henry David Thoreau” by the Christian Science Monitor\, Bob was also a beloved member of the Wellfleet community. \nWe will gather at the Kohlberg House (courtesy of the Cape Cod Modern House Trust) overlooking the beach that Bob so lovingly wrote about. Indira Ganesan\, Chris Wisniewski and Paul Greenspan will read several selections of Bob’s work and Kathy Shorr will give us a sneak preview of Bob’s soon-to-be published last book. \nTickets are $30. All funds from this event benefit the Local Journalism Project\, the nonprofit partner of the Provincetown Independent. \nThe space is intimate and tickets are limited. We are also excited to once again include a freshwater Swim in Wellfleet’s Great Pond also on September 7 in the morning – time TBD. \nFor those who are unable to swim or participate\, would you consider making a donation? \nOur online fundraising platform\, Pledge It\, has been updated and we look forward to the registration of swimmers here and those Swimming in Place across the country and beyond\, and the set up of your personal fundraising pages. Cape Wellness Collaborative is a 501(c)3 organization offering free-of-charge integrative wellness therapies and support for anyone in our community facing cancer. \nTo celebrate its 10th anniversary\, Cape Cod Women’s Music Festival is overjoyed to be featuring 2024 Grammy ‘Best Latin Pop Album’ winner Gaby Moreno. This is Gaby’s 5th Grammy win and she has released 5 critically acclaimed studio albums. In addition to performing at the 2024 Grammys\, Gaby Moreno has recently appeared on The Tonight Show w/Jimmy Fallon with actor & musician Oscar Isaacs\, and at the White House to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
