DESCRIPTION:As part of our ongoing Stories On The Hill series\, our first Outdoor Movie Night of the 2026 season will feature The Hand That Holds the Line—a powerful film honoring the people who fish on Cape Cod and the generations of knowledge\, grit\, and care that sustain that way of life. True to the Stories On The Hill spirit\, the evening will begin with a thoughtful pre-film conversation featuring PMPM Executive Director Courtney Hurst\, who comes from a long line of boat captains and fishermen; the film’s producer Kim Roderiques; and several Cape Cod fishermen and fisherwomen whose lived experience brings this story to life. Set against the backdrop of Provincetown Harbor—where fishing has shaped both livelihood and identity for centuries—this promises to be a meaningful night of storytelling\, reflection\, and Community under the stars. PMPM Members will receive first access to tickets\, along with discounted pricing. More details will be shared as the season approaches. (And please note: A portion of the Ticket Sales will go to the Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance\, so this is a chance to support two nonprofits while having a great time.) \nThe Shallop Bar will be open before the conversation starts for cocktail and mocktails. \nPlease come up early to enjoy the view and have a drink before we begin. SUMMARY:Pride Month Movie Night with the Edward Gorey House
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday the 28th from 6:30-8:30 p.m.\, in recognition of Pride Month\, the Edward Gorey House and Thacher Hall will be screening the 1975 film Picnic at Hanging Rock. \nConsidered by the Australian Film Institute to be the best Australian film of all time (and they probably know what they’re talking about)\, Picnic at Hanging Rock – based off Joan Lindsay’s novel of the same name – is a diaphanous\, haunting Gothic mystery that follows a group of Edwardian-era schoolgirls on a St. Valentine’s Day outing where they mysteriously vanish. The fear\, despair\, and eventual madness that follows their disappearance plays out in sunshine-soaked vignettes and extremely starched white ruffles. Incredibly atmospheric and shot through with adolescent sapphic repression\, Picnic at Hanging Rock is one of the most beautiful – and most unnerving – films ever made.

SUMMARY:Film Screening: Women On Mars
DESCRIPTION:Isolated in an analogous Martian base (Mars Desert Research Station – MDRS) in the desert of Utah\, USA\, an all-female crew alternate between simulation missions outside (with radios\, helmets\, suits and astronaut protocols) and the development of their research at the base\, all aimed at contributing to the mission to make inhabiting Mars a possibility in the not-too-distant future. \nIt’s estimated that we will be on Mars in 20 years\, but the energy\, protection and power challenges for this goal are gigantic. The Hypatia I crew intent\, among other things\, to grow fish and plants on Mars\, to demonstrate that some single-celled living organisms can adapt to Martian radiation\, or to manufacture a low-cost Martian GPS. The crew also hope to act as clear references to inspire girls and young women to pursue scientific careers and explore the universe. At a time when only 30% of the world’s scientific research is conducted by women and only 20% of space research\, there’s a real need for more women scientists.

There hadn’t been anything like Mr. Rogers on television before and there hasn’t been since. \nThrough interviews with friends\, family\, and colleagues\, the film examines Rogers’ philosophy of using television to teach children about empathy\, kindness\, and acceptance\, while also highlighting his personal struggles\, such as self-doubt. The documentary also uses archival footage to show his impact\, including his work to advocate for public television.
