DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon of storytelling for all ages with internationally acclaimed storyteller Len Cabral. Len enchants audiences with his masterful telling of Cape Verdean\, African\, and Caribbean folktales\, with original stories and tales from around the world mixed in. This program was initially scheduled for August 7 but was postponed until now. Presented by the Friends of Snow Library\, with the support of a grant from the Fred J. Brotherton Charitable Foundation.  \nAdmission is free. Seating is first-come\, first-served.

SUMMARY:Artist Reception for Richard Ogden Perry
DESCRIPTION:A reception for Richard Ogden Perry will be held in the Craine Room. His intaglio and watercolor works are currently on display in the Craine Gallery through the month of October. Richard has explored the medium of relief since 1975\, when he was first enamored with the medium’s ability to combine elements of drawing\, painting\, and sculpture to create three-dimensional “holographic” illusions that change in appearance as the viewer moves and as the light on the reliefs change.

DESCRIPTION:Come to the Craine Room of Snow Library to hear Dr. Michael V. Pregot discuss his latest book\, “Slavery and Abolitionism on Cape Cod.” Dr. Pregot has intensely researched this subject to create a comprehensive examination of this often-overlooked part of Cape Cod history. The book discusses religious views\, political platforms\, economic factors\, and social movements that existed during the pre-Civil War period to help readers gain insight into the mindset of the era. It also highlights several profiles of notable Black slaves living in Massachusetts and demonstrates the enormous contributions they made to the overall growth of our country. \nCopies will be available for sale and signing after the talk. Admission is free and all are welcome.
