Dimock’s life tale\, intertwined with the Civil War and the fight for women’s rights\, reads like an adventure story\, ably told by her biographer Susan Wilson in this riveting PowerPoint lecture. \nSusan Wilson is the official House Historian of the Omni Parker House in Boston\, an Alumna Scholar at the Women’s Studies Research Center of Brandeis University\, and an Honorary Fellow of the Massachusetts Historical Society. Admission is free\, and the talk will also be broadcast and recorded via Zoom. \nCape Cod has long been shaped by the dynamic interactions of the land and the sea.  In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Center for Coastal Studies\, Dr. Castagno explores the Cape’s geologic evolution alongside the history of the Land–Sea Interaction Program. Through multimedia excerpts from oral history interviews with Center founder Dr. Graham Giese\, past and present perspectives come together\, highlighting five decades of coastal science and the ongoing work of understanding a continually evolving shoreline. \nThe Napi’s Winter Lecture Series is named after the restaurant owned by the late Napi and Helen Van Dereck\, longtime supporters of the Center for Coastal Studies\, who originally hosted these talks in their famous Provincetown restaurant\, Napi’s. DESCRIPTION:Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Mark Erelli is a Boston-based veteran of the folk and roots music scene\, renowned for his emotional honesty\, craftsmanship\, and warmth. Erelli exploded out of the gate in 1999 when he won the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Award in the wake of his “auspicious debut” (Billboard)\, joining the ranks of previous honorees like Lyle Lovett and Nanci Griffith. More recently\, Erelli penned the anti-gun violence song “By Degrees\,” recorded in collaboration with Rosanne Cash\, Sheryl Crow\, and others\, which garnered a nomination for Song of the Year at the 2019 Americana Honors and Awards. He followed this honor with a pair of records that drew comparisons to both Tom Petty and John Prine\, as well as praise for their energy\, grace\, and resilience. She fears that she is going mad–that is certainly what Mr. Manningham believes. But when Detective Rough arrives one night to visit Mrs. Manningham while she is alone\, questions arise and secrets are revealed about her husband. SUMMARY:Outer Frequencies: Optic Sink and Visual Learner
DESCRIPTION:Outer Frequencies presents its ninth show\, featuring multiple touring bands: \nOptic Sink is a post-punk band from Memphis. This trio relies on synthesizers and drum machines to move the crowd with propulsive sounds. Optic Sink visits Cape Cod midway through a tour in support of their new album Lucky Number (Feel It Records). Visual Learner is a four-piece band from Minneapolis specializing in heartfelt\, melodic punk rock with a gruff edge. The band’s debut LP Greg was recently released by Salinas Records. The Ace King Draw are a local duo who bring a post-rock edge to traditional arrangements\, featuring guitarist/vocalist Brendan O’ Donnell and stand up bassist Jake Finney. Since their recent formation\, the duo has recorded multiple digital singles. \nAdmission to the concert is a $15- 20 sliding scale payment\, cash or Venmo\, at the door. Doors open at 6:30 pm with performances starting at 7 pm. The show is open to all ages in a drug and alcohol-free environment. Beverages and snacks available by donation. Christ Church Episcopal is located at 671 MA-28\, Harwich Port.  A portion of proceeds from this show will be donated to Food Not Bombs Cape Cod. FNB distributes free vegan food to all interested community members on Tuesdays from 5 -6 pm on the corner of Main Street and Center Street in Hyannis.
