And in that time Los Lobos have created an unprecedented body of work\, a legacy of greatness. The numbers are staggering: 100+ gigs a year for five decades running\, crossing millions of miles to rock millions of fans. And that’s just at the live shows. \nThey’ve also recorded seventeen studio albums\, seven live LPs\, three compilations\, two EPs\, two DVDs\, and contributed over forty guest appearances on their friends’ recordings. They have garnered five Grammys\, an Austin City Limits Hall of Fame induction and the ALMA Ritchie Valens Pioneer Award. \nBut beyond all the hoopla and applause (and the source of it all\, really) is the tremendous heart. Rather\, hearts. Cinco corazones. Five blood brothers who have dedicated their off-stage time to helping others\, working for peace and justice. Further\, they’ve penned some of the most literate and important music of their time. They transform the hard cries from the East L.A. barrio into songs of hope\, tales of common folk finding ways to endure. \nThe young wolves were weaned on late-night radio’s soul\, R&B\, and doo-wop. Were cured through the African-American currents of the blues\, jazz\, and rock ‘n’ roll. An amalgam. As proud Chicanos\, their songs have always glistened with the distillation from their Mexican and Latin American roots. \nQuite simply\, they are one of the tightest\, one of the best\, one of the most prolific bands ever. And\, amazingly\, with the original founding members as the pack the entire time. Unprecedented. Music by Thom Dutton Troubadour Harper \nBorn in Brazil in 1976\, now proudly a naturalized citizen\, Cleber Stecei began experimenting with abstract painting as a teenager. After arriving in the United States at the age of 19\, he won awards for his abstracts. He became inspired by the beautiful New England scenery and has since excelled in landscape painting combining fine details and brave\, spontaneous brush work. \nAs well\, Stecei has a great appreciation for realistic portrayals of the human form\, and creates unique still life compositions.\nStecei is a member of the Cape Cod Art Association and his work has been awarded numerous times\, including a Best in Show. Since showing at the Addison Art Gallery\, his work has enthralled collectors as well as judges and has been featured in respected regional and national art publications. \n“A Master in the Making…represented by one of the Cape’s most prestigious galleries\, Addison Art in Orleans. And she is also set for a major role in the upcoming HBO series Rooster from Steve Carell and Bill Lawrence. The labyrinth is an ancient and artistic circular pattern found in many cultures and places around the world. Then\, Julie Hambrook\, APCC Pond and Cyanobacteria Program Manager\, will describe the APCC’s Cape Cod Pond Watchers Bio-Survey Program. It’s a great night for the whole family. \nRock Academy performed at PMPM last August with a guest appearance by Billy Hough and these talented\, young musicians delivered such an incredible\, energetic\, and crowd-pleasing performance that we invited them back for another night On The Hill.
