DESCRIPTION:Part on stage confessional\, part on stage exorcism\, actor and filmmaker Nick Cohen recounts his rollercoaster journey from Edgware Road in London to Sunset Boulevard\, Los Angeles trying to crack Hollywood. Growing up\, Nick had dreams of Oscar glory but when he touched down in La La Land\, things didn’t quite go as planned. Life with Oscar is a dark autobiographical comedy that sees Nick come to terms with the feelings of shame\, failure and later redemption from his time in Tinseltown via his Jewish roots and a host of larger-than-life characters from the twisted underbelly of the City of Angels. Nick plays 29 different characters as he relates his journey\, including a double Oscar winning housemate who worked with iconic filmmaker Orson Welles and promised Nick an Oscar nomination\, the man who modeled the Oscar trophy itself\, and a potential future bride who just happens to be the daughter of a psychotic producer. Life with Oscar debuted at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe (Underbelly) in 2023 before then transferring to the Arcola Theatre in London and touring to the East Coast of the USA in 2024 and venues across the UK in Spring 2025. \nNick said\, ‘I was always evasive about what happened to me in Hollywood. It took a long time to understand that the mortifying embarrassment and sense of failure\, was – not only something that many people feel about their careers – but also very funny. Having received great responses to the show in Edinburgh\, London\, and the USA\, I am excited to bring Life With Oscar back to more locations across the USA.’ \nNick Cohen is a writer\, actor\, director and producer. He trained with Theatre de Complicite and began his career at the Gate Theatre and the RSC and was later Staff Director at the Royal National Theatre under Trevor Nunn. As Artistic Director of Strange Fish Theatre\, he directed\nThe Power and The Glory (Etcetera Theatre)\, Good Bones (Southwark Playhouse) and The Taming of The Shrew (Bloomsbury Theatre and international tour) as well as producing Blood Knot (Gate Theatre) which was Time Out Critic’s Choice. Later\, Nick trained on the BBC Drama\nDirector’s Academy directing screen works including feature films London Unplugged\, The Reeds\, Beginners Luck\, TV episodes of Eastenders\, Doctors\, Channel Four documentary Firing Line\, and a number of short fiction films and nonprofit films for the Refugee Council and Migrant Resource Centre. \nFor mature audiences only.

DESCRIPTION:On the Friday after Labor Day since 1994\, the historic and elegant sanctuary of Provincetown’s Unitarian Universalist Meeting House in the center of town has been the home of an event filled with music\, celebration\, life\, memory\, and joy. It is the annual CELEBRATION OF LIFE concert\, free in every aspect of the word: free admission\, free performances\, free space\, time and labor. It is Provincetown’s longest running free music festival. This year’s 29th event begins on Friday\, September 5 at 8pm.\n \nHundreds of performers have shared their talents throughout the years. The Celebration of Life’s spirit is another expression of the legendary caregiving capacity that Provincetown’s people continue to express in their daily lives.\n \nThis year’s performers include André Bois\, Frankie Campofelice\, Chanthoeun Collins\, Ken Field\, Sue Goldberg\, Billy Hough\, Frederick Jodry\, Andy Lantz\, Roxanne Layton\, Loren Lee\, Zoë Lewis\, Marissa Miller\, Sylvie Richard\, Miss Richfield 1981\, Fermín Rojas\, Sam Sewell\, Hilarie Tamar\, John Thomas\, Janet Villas\, Rev. Kate Wilkinson and other surprises.\n \n\nThe Celebration of Life concert is not a fund-raiser: it’s a FUN-raiser. The path to the front door guides hundreds of Provincetown’s extended community into the sanctuary where drumming fill the space. At precisely 8 pm\, hundreds of colorful prayer ribbons rise up until they arch from the top of the trompe l’oeilceiling to begin another Celebration of Life.\n \nThe Celebration of Life is produced and hosted by John Thomas and co-sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House of Provincetown and Great Music on Sundays @5. The Celebration of Life is presented in association with the annual Provincetown Swim for Life and Paddler Flotilla\, which launches the next morning.

Clancy’s unique fiddle style embraces\, Northern Irish\, Scottish\, Cape Breton and some French-Canadian influences. Rose carries forward the music played by multiple generations of her family with roots dating back to 1950s Ireland\, where members of the Clancy family played at country dances and concerts throughout Ireland. Rose learned Traditional Music from her Father\, Eugene Clancy and began her musical career at an early age performing with her family’s musical group\, The Clancy Tradition. Rose has performed at Gaelic Roots\, Boston College\, the South Shore Conservatory\, Roots and Branches with Robbie O’Connell and at The Burren Backroom\, with Jacqueline Schwab. She has released several CDs with The Clancy Tradition and a solo CD with pianist Brendan Dolan.\n“Lovely\, energetic music played without pretension”. Daniel Neely\, The Irish Echo ‘Powerful fiddling from an Irish American who also knows the Scottish and Cape Breton traditions” Alex Monaghan\, Folkworld. \nEugene Clancy originally hails from Armagh\, Northern Ireland. In 1960 he left Ireland with his two brothers to tour the United States as The Irish Ramblers. Eventually\, he settled in New York and continued the musical tradition with his children and members of his extended family known as “The Clancy Tradition” in the 1980’s. Eugene has performed at Carnegie Hall\, Donnelly Memorial Theater\, Soldiers Field\, Chicago\, The Gate of Horn\, Usher Hall\, Edinburgh\, Scotland\, Gertys Folk City & the Bitter End. \nMax Cohen\, a virtuoso finger style guitarist who also possesses a brilliantly emotive voice\, Max has been playing and writing for more than thirty years. His musicianship has drawn accolades from critics and fans alike. As a performer\, his attention to detail is what truly distinguishes him\, as his playing is characterized by technical precision and exquisite tone. Max has played and toured all over the US and Canada. but currently he is living on Cape Cod where he is involved with the local traditional music scene. These days Max is accompanying the likes of fiddler Rose Clancy\, as well as Franco American fiddler Donna Hebert. Max is also the regular accompanist of renowned folk singer Priscilla Herdman\, and he plays with the Martha’s Vineyard based group The Misfits of Avalon. \nJohn Alden\, upright bass player is a talented multi-instrumentalist\, singer\, dance caller and a Cape Cod cranberry farmer. Playing the largest and the lowest pitched string instrument\, John enhances the folk music by providing the rhythmic music to the group and playing essential parts of a folk song that you don’t necessarily hear by providing a good feeling and steady pulse.
