SUMMARY:Pride Month Movie Night with the Edward Gorey House
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday the 28th from 6:30-8:30 p.m.\, in recognition of Pride Month\, the Edward Gorey House and Thacher Hall will be screening the 1975 film Picnic at Hanging Rock. \nConsidered by the Australian Film Institute to be the best Australian film of all time (and they probably know what they’re talking about)\, Picnic at Hanging Rock – based off Joan Lindsay’s novel of the same name – is a diaphanous\, haunting Gothic mystery that follows a group of Edwardian-era schoolgirls on a St. Valentine’s Day outing where they mysteriously vanish. The fear\, despair\, and eventual madness that follows their disappearance plays out in sunshine-soaked vignettes and extremely starched white ruffles. Incredibly atmospheric and shot through with adolescent sapphic repression\, Picnic at Hanging Rock is one of the most beautiful – and most unnerving – films ever made.

In John Logan’s Tony Award-winning play\, the two artists clash over the nature of art and success\, struggling to find meaning in their work as the world around them changes. \nDirected by Izaak van der Wende\, the production features costume design by Lucie Jackett\, sound design by Izaak van der Wende\, and replicas by Andre van der Wende. The cast includes John O’Meara as Rothko and Colin Bourget as Ken. \nBits and Bobs Theater Company is an independent group of emerging artists dedicated to making theater more accessible for young and developing creatives.
