Join Cape Symphony Presents for OCEAN / CURRENT\, an intimate and immersive evening of contemporary dance inspired by the ocean\, environmental change\, and the powerful relationship between movement\, sound\, and ecology. Featuring excerpts from Boston Dance Theater’s SURGE project\, developed in collaboration with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) ocean scientist Larry J. Pratt. Through bold and expressive movement\, the work translates scientific concepts such as ocean systems\, current\, flow\, and environmental change into a deeply human performance experience. \nPresented in partnership with Boston Dance Theater + Danceport. \nThe evening will also highlight local dance through original work choreographed by Danceport Founder and Owner Michelle Chwastiak and performed by the Danceport Company. These works\, including If the World Was a House and Diamonds on the Water\, reflect themes of ocean preservation\, environmental connection\, and the fragile beauty of the world around us. \nThe program will conclude with a collaborative improvisation featuring dancers from both Boston Dance Theater and Danceport\, set to ambient recordings of local ocean sounds. DESCRIPTION:Demonstration at 4:00\, reception 5:00 to 7:00 Music by Cape favorite Sarah Burrill \nThese paintings are inspired by explorations on the Outer Cape\, where the changing light and landscape offer unique opportunities for artistic exploration. Many began as plein-air studies of the harbors\, villages\, and expansive shorelines. Working outdoors allows McPhillips to respond directly to the shifting weather and tide. He continues from those first observations to create his finished works. According to Jonathan\, “Allowing for deeper consideration and reflection\, I can let a group of inspirations grow together and form their stories. This process helps me to honor the light\, atmosphere\, and history of the places we cherish.” \nJonathan McPhillips\, a cum laude graduate of Connecticut College with a BFA in Fine Art\, celebrates the coastal splendor of New England. Equally adept in the studio or on location\, Jonathan’s work encompasses harbors\, beaches\, vessels\, and the distinct architecture of the coastal marine environment. \nWith an impressive list of awards and accomplishments\, Jonathan’s artistry has garnered national and international recognition. His work has been showcased in various U.S. embassies through the “Art in Embassies” program by the U.S. Department of State. As an esteemed member of various professional art organizations\, including the Providence Art Club\, The Salmagundi Club\, NY\, and the American Impressionists Society\, Jonathan continues to evolve and inspire\, bringing to life the allure of coastal New England.

Work is available as it is completed and posted at addisonart.com.\nLive music by Cape Favorite Sarah Burrill. \nPAAM was established in 1914 by a group of artists and townspeople to build a permanent collection of works by artists of outer Cape Cod\, and to exhibit art that would allow for unification within the community. Integral to the community comprising the Provincetown Art Colony\, PAAM embodies the qualities that make Provincetown an enduring American center for the arts\, and serves as Cape Cod’s most widely-attended art museum.  paam.org

The reception from 5:00 to 7:00 will feature music by Larry Murray. \nFor over three decades\, starting when Karri took her first painting workshop with Steve\, the Allriches inspired each other to expand their horizons and grow in their artistic careers. \nConcentrating on atmospheric abstracts and representational landscapes\, Steve continues to paint almost daily. While we were saddened by Karri’s passing in December of last year\, we are honored to represent her varied works including abstracts on paper never previously shown.
