SUMMARY:Artist Reception for Aaron Souza
DESCRIPTION:An artist reception for Aaron Souza\, whose works are on display in the Craine Gallery’s February exhibit\, will be held in the Craine Room. Yarmouth Port-based artist Aaron Souza’s exhibit of new paintings and silverpoint drawings\, titled “Land\, Light and Figure\,” showcases paintings combining traditional technique with Impressionist color sensibility\, exploring the beauty of the Cape Cod landscape\, the interplay of light and color\, and the human figure\, along with a group of silverpoint drawings of coastal New England. \n “Land\, Light and Figure\,” will offer viewers an opportunity to experience the world through Aaron’s eyes\, as he invites them to share in the beauty of the Cape Cod landscape and the human form modeled in full chroma. Aaron’s work captures the essence of a scene through vibrant color and a keen understanding of light. He draws inspiration from the local landscape\, and the American Impressionists\, from Charles Hawthorne\, Emile Gruppé and the Boston School artists. He studied at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown\, MA\, after completing degrees in Painting and Art Education at Umass Dartmouth. At the Cape School of Art\, he honed his skills under the tutelage of renowned artists. This training\, combined with a deep appreciation for nature and the human figure\, informs his unique artistic vision. \nAaron completed his BFA in Painting from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2006\, as well as a master’s degree in Art Education in 2018. In 2012 Aaron began studying at the Cape School of Art to help gain a new perspective through plein air painting\, and the study of light and color. Based out of Yarmouth Massachusetts\, he creates both studio and en plein air paintings that capture the vibrancy of light and shadow in full chroma.

SUMMARY:Author Talk with Janis Robinson Daly
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Craine Room of Snow Library for a talk with local author Janis R. Daly\, who recently released her book\, “The Path Beneath Her Feet.” Janis will read excerpts from her book and share how and why she came to write historical fiction with the launch of her debut novel and its sequel. She will also discuss the popularity of the historical fiction genre among readers and the reasons for it. \nAs the sequel to “The Unlocked Path\,” this latest book continues the story of Dr. Eliza Edwards’ commitment to limit suffering and save lives amid the tumultuous landscapes of 1930s and 1940s America. Heavily researched down to the minute historical details\, “The Path Beneath Her Feet” is just as charged and enticing as its predecessor. \nCopies will be available for sale and signing after the talk. Admission is free and all are welcome. Sponsored by the Rowena Myers Trust.
