DESCRIPTION:Contemporary dance meets ocean science in an intimate Cape Cod performance with Boston Dance Theater and Danceport. Join Cape Symphony Presents for OCEAN / CURRENT\, an intimate and immersive evening of contemporary dance inspired by the ocean\, environmental change\, and the powerful relationship between movement\, sound\, and ecology. Featuring excerpts from Boston Dance Theater’s SURGE project\, developed in collaboration with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) ocean scientist Larry J. Pratt. Through bold and expressive movement\, the work translates scientific concepts such as ocean systems\, current\, flow\, and environmental change into a deeply human performance experience. \nPresented in partnership with Boston Dance Theater + Danceport. \nThe evening will also highlight local dance through original work choreographed by Danceport Founder and Owner Michelle Chwastiak and performed by the Danceport Company. These works\, including If the World Was a House and Diamonds on the Water\, reflect themes of ocean preservation\, environmental connection\, and the fragile beauty of the world around us. \nThe program will conclude with a collaborative improvisation featuring dancers from both Boston Dance Theater and Danceport\, set to ambient recordings of local ocean sounds. On Saturday\, October 25\, Cape Cod will host a dynamic and community-focused celebration of vinyl records and music culture. The Cape Cod Record Fair will take place from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Cape Symphony Falmouth Campus\, located at 60 Highfield Drive behind Highfield Hall & Theatre. Admission is a suggested donation of $3\, and all are welcome. \nPresented in collaboration with The Magic Message—a Falmouth-based music and design project by DJ and collector Jeffrey Bouchard—this all-day event invites music fans of all ages to browse through thousands of records spanning every genre and generation. From classic rock and jazz to soul\, punk\, hip hop\, and contemporary beats\, it’s your chance to uncover rare finds\, rediscover old favorites\, and build the soundtrack of your life. \nThroughout the day\, DJs will spin vinyl-only sets\, setting the tone with nostalgic grooves and deep cuts while you dig\, connect\, and celebrate the magic of music on wax. Whether you’re a crate-digging pro or a curious newcomer\, there’s something here for everyone. \nThe fair also features a charity record donation table\, where you can donate records you no longer need. Proceeds from these sales will support local causes including Katie’s Cure and the Falmouth Public Library.
