SUMMARY:Carolyn Wonderland
DESCRIPTION:“The more guitar you play\, the more you sing\, the better you get\,” says award-winning Texas guitar slinger\, singer\, songwriter\, and multi-instrumentalist Carolyn Wonderland. Since performing her first professional gig at age 15\, she’s never stopped singing and making music. Her music includes a bold mix of timeless original songs and reinventions of some of her favorites\, ranging from blistering electric blues to deep\, heartfelt ballads to cosmic country to soulful Tex-Mex. Every song is fueled by Wonderland’s forceful yet melodic Texas-flavored guitar work and her full-throated\, heart-on-her-sleeve vocals. She’s recorded ten previous albums under her own name\, including four produced by famed musician Ray Benson\, founder of multiple Grammy-winning band Asleep At The Wheel. Wonderland\, who spent the last three years as lead guitarist in John Mayall’s Blues Breakers\, now joins the Alligator Records family as the first female guitar hero in the label’s storied 50-year history. Her spine-chilling\, soul-deep singing matches her guitar prowess note for note. And she has a knack for writing songs that sound like instant classics. Her Alligator Records debut\, the Dave Alvin-produced Tempting Fate\, is the next chapter in Wonderland’s remarkable story\, one that is already overflowing with countless and colorful once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

SUMMARY:Adam Ezra Group
DESCRIPTION:Welcome To Adam Ezra Group \n He takes a month out of each year to visit the living rooms of his fans around the country… \n His band and nonprofit organization RallySound host a free festival every summer that raised $151\,000 for homeless veterans in 2024… \n He live-streamed for 500 nights in a row during the pandemic… \n They co-produced an album with 163 fans… \nIf you haven’t connected with Adam Ezra Group yet\, these are just a few examples to help you understand how this underground\, Americana songwriter and his bandmates seem to have popped out of nowhere\, establishing a connection with their fans unlike any other\, and are suddenly selling out theaters throughout the Northeast. \nAdam Ezra will joke with you that while the “nowhere” part might be accurate\, nothing has ever just “popped” for this folk musician\, activist. Without resources\, connections\, or any kind of clue how the music world works\, Ezra began playing shows over 20 years ago. When music venues wouldn’t hire him\, he played bars\, bookstores\, fields\, and parking lots\, often raising money for causes he cared about; a practice that grew into his nonprofit organization RallySound.

SUMMARY:Duke Robillard
DESCRIPTION:Putting Renewed emphasis on the Blues Whether it’s a song\, a style\, an idiom or an image\, Duke Robillard will render it with mastery\, power\, nuance and an unerring grasp of its essence. \nBorn Michael John Robillard on October 4\, 1948\, in Woonsocket\, R.I.\, Duke has carved out one of blues’ most illustrious legacies\, while also trodding some lofty related territories as a guitarist\, vocalist\, songwriter\, bandleader\, studio sideman\, producer\, label operator and educator. \nAfter showing an early affinity for music and guitar\, he founded Roomful Of Blues with pianist Al Copley in Westerly\, R.I.\, in 1967. By adding horns\, Roomful announced itself emphatically as the prototypical jump blues band\, and became a New England legend and a fixture beyond\, as did Duke himself. \nHis unsurpassed mastery of the guitar style of T-Bone Walker (later crystallized memorably in his 2004 release “Blue Mood”) was deservedly heralded\, but his breadth was also head-turning – from swing\, standards and ballads to rockers\, gutbucket Chicago blues and rockabilly. \nBy the time Duke left Roomful after a dozen years\, he was firmly established in the upper echelon of contemporary blues guitarists. Duke went from Roomful to a stint with rockabilly revivalist Robert Gordon and then to the first iteration of the Legendary Blues Band\, composed primarily of then-recent Muddy Waters sidemen. \nThe Duke Robillard Band debuted in 1981\, re-emerging as The Pleasure Kings with their eponymous 1984 album on Rounder. It and its sequel\, “Too Hot To Handle\,” burnished Duke’s songwriting portfolio; the 1987 jazz outing “Swing” (with saxophonist Scott Hamilton) underscored his versatility and remains a highlight. \nContinuing his solo career\, Duke replaced Jimmie Vaughan with The Fabulous Thunderbirds in 1990. He cut his own much-awaited straight blues album “Duke’s Blues” in 1993 for Canadian imprint Stony Plain\, leading eventually to a rewarding\, continuing and prolific alliance\, along with releases during the ensuing years on Point Blank/Virgin and Shanachie\, as well as instructional videos. He has also launched his own labels with Jesse Finkelstein\, Blue Duchess/Shining Stone.

SUMMARY:Darrell Scott
DESCRIPTION:Multi-Instrumentalist and Singer-Songwriter Darrell Scott mines and cultivates the everyday moment\, taking the rote\, menial\, mundane\, and allowing it to be surreal\, ever poignant\, and candidly honest\, lilting\, blooming\, and resonating. The words he fosters allow us to make sense of the world\, what is at stake here\, and our place in it. And ultimately\, Darrell knows the sole truth of life is that love is all that matters\, that we don’t always get it right\, but that’s the instinctive and requisite circuitous allure of things\, why we forever chase it\, and why it is held sacred. \nDarrell Scott comes from a musical family with a father who had him smitten with guitars by the age of 4\, alongside a brother who played Jerry Reed style as well. From there\, things only ramped up with literature and poetry endeavors while a student at Tufts University\, along with playing his way through life. This would never change. \nAfter recently touring with Robert Plant and Zac Brown Band (2 years with each)\, and producing albums for Malcolm Holcombe and Guy Clark and being named “songwriter of the year” for both ASCAP and NSAI\, these days find him roaming his Tennessee wilderness acreage hiking along the small river\, creating delicious meals with food raised on his property\, and playing music. He often leads songwriting workshops to help people tell their own truths with their stories\, and is as busy as always writing\, producing\, performing\, and just plain fully immersing himself in life.

SUMMARY:Teddy Thompson
DESCRIPTION:The simplicity and emotional intensity of classic country – à la Hank Williams\, Patsy Cline and George Jones – has been a big part of Thompson’s own sound as an artist\, which the New York Times called “beautifully finessed” and NPR hailed as “the musical equivalent of an arrow to the heart.” \n“The goal was to do it in the way that country records I love – mostly from the ’60s – were made\,” says Thompson. “Everything was mapped out\, with charts and string parts in place. The musicians came in\, and we cut the songs the way they did back then. We just blazed through them.” \nThe results are riveting. Thompson’s rich\, honeyed voice responds beautifully to “A Picture Of Me (Without You)\,” “Cryin’ Time\,” I Fall To Pieces” and other songs of poetic despondence\, throwing off both sparks and tears without ever seeming showy. You can hear how he’s listened deeply to the genre’s masters\, absorbing the finer stylistic points of their influence. But rather than imitate\, he does something more nuanced and profound. He makes the material his own\, and makes the familiar sound new. “Many of these songs I thought were a bit beyond me when I was younger\, too big to tackle\,” Teddy says. “’A Picture Of Me\,’ ‘You Don’t Know Me\,’ big ballads like that\, which I think maybe take a little bit of maturity to do justice to. I was excited to sing those songs now\, after knowing them for decades. I think at least I’ve earned the chance to try.” \nHelping Thompson realize his vision for My Love Of Country was multi-instrumentalist producer David Mansfield\, whose resume includes touring with Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue\, scoring Oscar nominated films like The Apostle and years of high-profile session work with the likes of Johnny Cash\, Lucinda Williams and Dwight Yoakam. Recorded at Mansfield’s studio Hobo Sound in Hoboken\, NJ\, the album balances elegant\, wrap-around arrangements with one-take energy (“I’ve learned that I do my best in the first couple of takes\,” Thompson says). A star-studded group of harmony vocalists\, including Vince Gill\, Rodney Crowell and Aoife O’Donovan\, added final touches. \nThe latest stop – and eighth album – in a career that has carried on the legacy of his parents\, British folk-rock legends Richard and Linda Thompson\, and found him collaborating with such artists as Rufus Wainwright\, Rosanne Cash and Emmylou Harris\, My Love Of Country follows 2020’s Heartbreaker Please\, listed in the Top 10 Records of the Year by Britain’s Daily Mail and called “buoyant\, brilliant and soulful” by Billboard.

SUMMARY:Twisted Pine
DESCRIPTION:On October 18th\, Twisted Pine released its joyous third LP\, Love Your Mind\, on Signature Sounds Recordings. The title represents the quartet landing on a more expansive sound than ever\, after years of touring\, serious introspection\, bouts of self-doubt\, glorious bursts of creativity\, and many after-hour festival jam sessions and pickin’ till dawn. \nCo-produced by the band and longtime-collaborator Dan Cardinal at his studio Dimension Sound in Boston\, the record is loaded with experimental production\, fearless songwriting featuring input from each member\, finely-crafted collaborative arrangements\, playing that’s virtuosic and visceral. It’s a reflection of what the band listens to. It’s buoyant pop and delicate folk\, raging old-time energy\, and old-school r&b grooves. \nOn vinyl and on stage\, the sound of Twisted Pine is unmistakable\, exuberant\, daring. \nWhat started as a (semi-)traditional bluegrass band in the trenches of the storied folk\, bluegrass\, and Americana scene in Boston a decade ago has bloomed into an ensemble of players who shapeshift across genres. Even the expansive “progressive bluegrass” label doesn’t come close to capturing their musical scope. \nChris Sartori’s upright bass anchors everything with an undeniable\, articulate groove. Dan Bui’s mandolin is thick\, crisp\, and propulsive. Kathleen Parks’ fiddle and Anh Phung’s flute are at constant play\, often augmented with effects pedals for layered musical textures\, psychedelic sounds\, and wild solo trading\, somewhere in the territory between bluegrass and jazz. Out in front of the ensemble\, Parks’ lead vocals are an instrument unto herself: equal parts mystery\, power\, haunt\, and a search for the edges. And she’s surrounded on all sides by the voices of her bandmates\, who bring on whatever harmonies\, unities\, whistles\, and howls the night requires. \nIn a world that needs TLC more than ever\, Twisted Pine offers a night of exultant travels across genres\, across time\, to mountains\, cities\, roadhouses\, and back porches where songs bring tenderness\, love and relief. All in all\, this album and this tour bring the sound of a band that invites you to Love Your Mind.

SUMMARY:Chris Cain
DESCRIPTION:Guitar virtuoso\, vocalist and songwriter Chris Cain will perform live at the Spire Center for Performing Arts in Plymouth on Friday\, April 18\, 2025. “Chris Cain\,” the great B.B. King declared years ago\, “now that boy can play the guitar.” With more than three decades of touring and fifteen previous albums under his belt\, Cain\, once known as “one of the greatest guitarists you’ve never heard\,” is now celebrated by fans and fellow musicians alike as being among the blues’ most talented and exciting players. His original songs overflow with surprising hooks and feature razor-sharp lyrics that are moving and humorously insightful. With his powerful\, soul man’s voice and his inventive guitar work–inspired by Grant Green and Wes Montgomery as much as by B.B. King and Albert King—Cain’s talents are unparalleled in the blues world. Cain’s second Alligator Records album\, Good Intentions Gone Bad\, is another giant leap forward for the man Living Blues says is currently “turning out the best work of his career.”

SUMMARY:Popa Chubby
DESCRIPTION:Popa Chubby\, born Ted Horowitz\, has been hard rocking the blues in his fierce and soulful way for more than 30 years. Over the course of a career that dates back to 1994\, he has been a force of to be reckoned with on the guitar\, and his tempestuous\, soulful playing has never been more powerful. An imposing figure with a shaven head\, tattooed arms\, a goatee and a performance style he describes as “the Stooges meets Buddy Guy\, Motörhead meets Muddy Waters\, and Jimi Hendrix meets Robert Johnson\,” Popa Chubby is an endearing character who is one of the genre’s most popular figures.

SUMMARY:Enter The Haggis
DESCRIPTION:For over two decades\, Toronto’s Enter The Haggis has combined bagpipes and fiddles with a rock rhythm section to create a distinctively eclectic sound\, praised by The Boston Globe\, The Washington Post and Canada’s Globe and Mail. Their songs offer singalong melodies and deep\, meaningful lyrics which tell the stories of everyday hard working people\, often faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges. Signature songs like “One Last Drink”\, “Gasoline”\, “Down With The Ship” and “Lancaster Gate” have had millions of plays on streaming services\, appeared in Hollywood movies\, and have been performed and recorded by artists around the world. \nEnter The Haggis is clearly comfortable on the stage and develops an easy rapport with audiences\, sharing the stories behind their songs and laughing through tour anecdotes. Their show is exciting and dynamic\, featuring unpredictable and spontaneous moments. One song might feature Brian Buchanan and Rose Baldino trading fiery fiddle lines\, while the next song highlights Craig Downie taking a trumpet solo or ripping through a bagpipe reel. Sometimes during an encore\, the band will leave the stage entirely to perform acoustically standing on chairs in the audience. \nEnter The Haggis’ commitment to putting on a great show every single night has made them a favorite at festivals and performing arts centers across the US and Canada. As a result\, ETH shows have become an annual tradition on some of the most prestigious stages on the continent. The band has also brought hundreds of fans on eight tours of Ireland and two of Scotland\, forging deeper friendships with their supporters while exploring ancient landmarks and natural wonders across each country.

SUMMARY:Grace Morrison
DESCRIPTION:This series showcases local and regional musicians in a relaxed and intimate setting. The lobby is transformed into a 70-seat showcase lounge! \nBorn and raised on the shores of Cape Cod\, Grace’s unique brand of “saltwater country” has established her as a confident\, refreshing voice in country-pop. With performances at Nashville’s Bluebird Café and co-writes with multi-Grammy winner Lori McKenna (Humble and Kind) and hit songwriter Barbara Cloyd (I Guess You Had to be There) under her belt\, Grace made a name for herself in 2022 at songwriter festivals from Massachusetts to Montana. During this stretch she gained further recognition and invitations to write with Dana Hunt Black (Check Yes or No)\, and Steve Dean (Round About Way). \nOutwardly effortless and radio ready you might take for granted what makes Grace’s songwriting special. With musical influences ranging from Fats Domino’s rock and roll licks; the raw expression of jazz; Celtic ballads; and 90’s pop choruses – Grace delivers “three chords and the truth” in a package that is familiar and yet undeniably unique. \nGrace Morrison is a mother\, musician\, renaissance faire performer\, cranberry farmer\, songwriter\, and storyteller. With subjects ranging from Titanic to tantric; an “evening with” Grace will take you from the court of King Henry VIII to debauchery in Denver. With humor and raw honesty\, audiences leave Grace’s shows with her songs stuck in their heads and their toes tired from tapping.

SUMMARY:Indieferm Brewing presents Sunday Funday with the SHADY ROOSTERS
DESCRIPTION:The Shady Roosters will play in the lobby at the Spire Center which is adjacent to the main auditorium. It is a comfortable and casual room with plenty of space for dancing or just enjoying the music without the trappings of a downtown bar room. It is also a family friendly environment. The lobby bar has three beer taps that will be serving IndieFerm beers during the shows. IndieFerm non-alcoholic kombucha will also be available by the bottle as well as wine and other beverages. \nThe Shady Roosters are a South Shore-based roots rock band that have been together for about twenty-five years\, mostly under the name Lonesome Jukebox. But they changed the name to the Shady Roosters recently as the lineup had changed somewhat. Their song list includes a mix of rockabilly\, blues\, roots\, and country with some original tunes that wouldn’t have sounded out of place on jukeboxes of the ‘50s and ‘60s. The most important ingredient is fun. They wouldn’t still be doing it if it wasn’t fun and that always carries over to the crowd.
