WOMR podcasts · Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. : Monsters and myths: LAS Dean’s Distinguished Lecture

A shortened and edited version of ” Russia Ukraine and United States – Monsters and Myths,” a presentation given at Iowa State University on November 30th by Scott Feinstein, assistant professor of political science.

In his lecture, Feinstein, who did extensive research in Ukraine, Russia, and Moldova as a Fulbright Scholar, explores the meaning of strength and security for nation-states. He makes the case for democracy and diversity by analyzing how failure in these areas in Russia led to misconceptions that resulted in the invasion of Ukraine without full understanding of its cost. He also speculates on this war’s cost to the global international community as well.
