“Trust me, Rupert Wates is an exceedingly rare talent.” “Truly gripping lyrics with great themes and troubling, witty messages. An inspirational artist.” “A fantastic song writer and a mesmerizing guitar player.”
On his album Eligies:
Rupert possesses a very emotive voice which, when combined with his sublime finger style guitar playing, provides the perfect vehicle to deliver this set of sensitive songs. All songs have been written by Rupert with just a bit of inspirational help from Keats, Tennyson and Coleridge, amongst others.
I have been trying to select one song which personifies Rupert’s approach to his music and provides a window into his mind. After a few listens, I have gone for “On A Midsummer Morning” a song about the loss of youth. It is both simple and beautiful in equal measures.
