Greg Abate

Greg Abate is an American jazz saxophonist, flutist, composer and educator celebrated for his hard-bop style and powerful, swinging alto voice. Downbeat’s Annual Readers Poll ranked him as one of the top three alto players in the country. For more than a decade, pianist Chris Taylor led his own band at The Prudential’s Top of the Hub in Boston. Drummer Gary Johnson, son of the late New England jazz great Dick Johnson, has performed with such luminaries as Dizzy Gillespie and Rosemary Clooney over the course of his career. Bassist Todd Baker has performed with the Artie Shaw Orchestra, the Woody Herman Band, Tommy/Jimmy Doresey Orchestra and many others. Presented by The Antonia and Vladimir Kulaev Cultural Heritage Fund, this series showcases local and regional musicians in a relaxed and intimate 70-seat showcase lounge.
