OUTERMOST CONTRA DANCE
October 21, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Kick up your heels in the cooler weather and the Halloween spirit! Outermost Contra Dance offers a great opportunity for family fun and live music. If you’ve never done contra dancing before, now’s your chance. Rhode Island caller Paul Wilde teaches fun dances to exhilarating live music.
Paul will be accompanied by local fiddler extraordinaire Clayton March and talented young pianist Bailey Ford. You may have seen Bailey performing with the Celtic Roots. Clayton March leads a dual musical life as a clarinetist and an Irish fiddler. As a fiddler Clayton leads Irish sessions across the region and is a sought after teacher. His students much appreciate his knowledge of Irish tunes, ornaments, and styles. He is a founder of West Bend Music in Dennis Port where he maintains a large teaching studio
Contra dancing is the older cousin to the square dance. No fancy footwork needed – if you can walk, you can dance! All the dances are taught and called. If you’re new to contra dance, be sure to get in on the early dances for the basic moves. No need to bring a partner; there are plenty of friendly people in this welcoming dance community.
Outermost Contra is one of many contradances on the Cape, and was organized in December of 2014. The contra dance is family friendly and welcomes dancers of all levels.
Come to dance or come just to listen. All are welcome. Admission is $15, $10 for those under 30, $5 with student ID! Vaccination cards are required, and local mask protocols will be observed. Outermost Contra is a non-profit organization.
