Spring is here and so is the incredible talent at the Outermost Contra Dance in Wellfleet!
This month we are honored to welcome back renowned pianist Jacqueline Schwab (jacquelineschwab.com) playing with high-energy contra dance fiddler Amy Larkin! Their uptempo tunes and lilting harmonies inspire dancers and listeners alike.
Our caller is special guest Erica Weiss, experienced dance teacher, musician, dancer, recording artist and more. Erica will lead us through each dance with the expertise she is known for.
Contra dancing is the older cousin to the square dance. No fancy footwork needed – if you can walk, you can dance! All the dances are taught and called. If you’re new to contra dance, be sure to get in on the early dances for the basic moves. No need to bring a partner; there are plenty of friendly people in this welcoming dance community.
Outermost Contra is one of many contradances on the Cape, and was organized in December of 2014. The contra dance is family friendly and welcomes dancers of all levels.
Come to dance or come just to listen. All are welcome. Admission is $15, $10 for those under 30, $5 with student ID! Vaccination cards are required, and local mask protocols will be observed.
