Rachel Ferer

Rachel began her musical education worshiping at her father’s extensive record collection, exposed to Old & In the Way, the Seldom Scene, Johnny Cash and the Beatles before she could walk. Her journey on WOMR began as a high school intern from Nauset Regional High School but even at just 14 years old sharing music with others became her passion. She hosted one Saturday a month for her high school years from 2007 to 2011, bringing a three hour morning oldies show. After school “life happened” as they say. She tried on many hats through the years but never found one that fit so well as the one she left hanging right there in the studio. Since her joyful return to WOMR in 2025, Rachel hosts “the Ride” on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month from 9pm to midnight.

“The Ride” with Rachel brings a touch of country western to this very most eastern point of our country, serving you Willie, Waylon, Cash, Merle, and the rest of country’s baddest, mixing in the honky-tonk, western, swing, and folk that influenced them. Each episode the song selections are based around a central theme – mama, trucks, trains, prison, etc. Rachel’s twin passion along with music is history, so her show is peppered with interesting and edifying facts about the songs, artists, and historical context for their works.
