Washashore Phil

During my first session as a deejay-in-training in 2022, I experienced a deep sense of the “welcoming vibe” of WOMR.  Driving home that night I thought, “that place (WOMR) is really good for the soul.”

My musical vision for volunteer deejay shows is to translate this WOMR vibe into a couple of hours of theme-oriented radio, featuring familiar and offbeat themes.  I call it simply “Good for the Soul.”

Each set of songs I play is a chapter.  These chapters hopefully add up to a playlist of a sonically creative story, a whimsical musical tale for your day.

The multi-genre menu for each themed show includes the usual suspects. Bo Diddley to Boy Genius, Sinatra to Sondheim, Billie Holiday to Beyonce, and some surprising flavors in between.

As a lifelong record and cd collector my media is strictly old school.  I love keeping the “disc” in disc jockey and the joy of spinning authentic “stacks of wax” on the air.

And if that isn’t enough to juggle for each show, I even offer dollops of commentary about the music and artists, or occasional slices of random reflections.

So, with our daily challenges and a static-filled world, I hope my radio program offers something that’s good for each of the souls in the listening audience.

…Oh by the way, I relocated from my native Connecticut to the Cape, hence the moniker “Washashore Phil.”
