After a 14-year run followed by a 17-year hiatus, Scott Penn is back on WOMR with Lush Life the last Friday afternoon of each month from 1:00 to 4:00. (Also, you can hear Lush Life from 9:00 to Midnight when there is a fifth Saturday that month.)
Lush Life features current (and some classic) American, Canadian, European and Australian jazz vocalists performing covers of jazz and popular standards. It’s a great three hours of “Tunes from the Dunes.”
Scott commutes to Provincetown from his home in Brooklyn each month. According to Scott, “being on WOMR was one of the great joys of my life. I’m beyond thrilled to be back. It’s been wonderful to reconnect with the ‘Loyal Lush Life Listeners’ while introducing new listeners to the program. During my early years at WOMR, there were days where we were lucky to broadcast from one end of Commercial Street to the other. It amazes me that WOMR now has a worldwide audience!”
New volunteers are always welcome to begin the training process. No experience necessary. The Program Committee is now accepting proposals from trained volunteers to fill the following openings: the 3rd Sunday of each month from 9 to midnight, and the 3rd Saturdays of each month from 9 to midnight. The station also welcomes proposals from people who would like to produce a 30 minute spoken word program on local issues. Send your proposals to Matty or contact matty@womr.org with any questions or to set up an orientation interview.
